The Mission Strategy: Evangelism, Discipleship, Leadership, and Church Planting

At KMI, our mission strategy follows a clear and intentional path—one that fosters sustainable Gospel movements. This approach includes:

1. Evangelism: Bringing the Good News to the Unreached

Many ethnic groups in Northern Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos remain unreached with the Gospel, living in spiritual darkness. KMI is committed to training local believers to share the message of Christ in culturally relevant ways. Through personal evangelism, small group gatherings, and outreach events, we engage communities with the love of Christ, often in regions where traditional missionary efforts face restrictions.

2. Discipleship: Strengthening Faith for Long-Term Growth

Evangelism alone is not enough; new believers must be discipled to grow in their faith. KMI prioritizes discipleship training that equips indigenous Christians with biblical foundations and spiritual maturity. Through structured Bible studies, mentorship, and practical application of faith, we empower believers to stand firm in their faith and become disciple-makers themselves.

3. Leadership Development & Capacity Building

A strong local church requires strong local leaders. KMI provides leadership training that empowers pastors and ministry leaders with theological education, pastoral care skills, and strategic ministry development. Our training programs focus on contextualized leadership, helping indigenous leaders navigate cultural and social challenges as they shepherd their communities.

Capacity building also extends to practical skills such as community development, education, and sustainable ministry practices. By equipping leaders holistically, we ensure that Gospel movements thrive even in difficult environments.

4. Church Planting: Establishing Lasting Gospel Presence

Church planting is the natural outcome of evangelism, discipleship, and leadership training. As communities come to Christ, local believers establish house churches and congregations that serve as beacons of light in their regions. KMI supports indigenous church planters with training, resources, and encouragement, ensuring that these new churches are biblically grounded and self-sustaining.

Reaching Across Borders: Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos

The geographical region where Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos meet is known for its ethnic diversity and historical complexities. Many believers in these areas face persecution, poverty, and isolation. However, by training indigenous leaders who understand the local languages, cultures, and traditions, KMI is able to penetrate areas that are otherwise difficult for foreign missionaries to reach.

  • Northern Thailand: Serving as a mission hub, KMI provides a safe space for leadership training, theological education, and discipleship initiatives. Many of our leaders are trained in Thailand before being sent into Myanmar and Laos.

  • Myanmar: Despite political instability and persecution, KMI-trained pastors and disciple-makers are planting churches and spreading the Gospel in rural and conflict-affected areas.

  • Laos: With strict government control over religious activities, mission work in Laos requires a strategic approach. KMI supports underground church networks and indigenous evangelists who share the Gospel through relational evangelism.

A Call to Partner in the Great Commission

The work in Northern Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos is vast, and the need for trained leaders and disciple-makers is urgent. KMI invites individuals, churches, and mission partners to join in this Kingdom mission—whether through prayer, financial support, or active involvement in training and outreach efforts.

As we continue to raise up indigenous leaders, we believe that God is transforming this region through His people. The Gospel is advancing, churches are being planted, and lives are being renewed by the power of Christ. Together, we can fulfill the Great Commission and see the nations come to know Jesus.
