Severe Earthquake Damage in Mandalay, Myanmar

Mandalay, one of Myanmar’s largest cities, suffered catastrophic losses. Dozens of buildings collapsed, including homes, offices, and historical landmarks. Early reports confirm over 140 deaths and more than 700 injured, with numbers still rising. The collapse of the iconic Sagaing Bridge (Ava Bridge) has further complicated rescue efforts, cutting off vital access to the region.

Tremors Felt in Bangkok, Thailand

The tremors were so strong that they were felt as far as Bangkok, Thailand—more than 950 kilometers from the epicenter. In a tragic development, a 33-story skyscraper under construction on Kamphaeng Phet Road collapsed, killing at least 10 people and leaving over 100 missing. Emergency services in Thailand have launched search and rescue operations, and the BTS Skytrain and MRT systems were briefly shut down as a precaution.

KMI's Mission: Training and Relief in Yangon, Myanmar

At Kingdom Ministries International (KMI), we are scheduled to arrive in Yangon, Myanmar tomorrow for a one-week training program for pastors and ministry leaders. As we prepare for this mission, our hearts are heavy with the grief and uncertainty facing this nation.

While our original focus was leadership development, we are now also assessing the potential need for rescue or relief operations in partnership with local churches and ministries. We remain committed to bringing hope and practical support wherever possible.

Assessing Relief and Rescue Needs

In the aftermath of the Myanmar earthquake 2025, international aid is being mobilized—but the need remains overwhelming. As organizations on the ground scramble to assist, there is an urgent call for churches, NGOs, and volunteers to step in.

We are in communication with local leaders in Yangon and Mandalay to evaluate:

  • Immediate relief needs (food, water, shelter)

  • Emotional and spiritual support

  • Opportunities to assist with rescue operations and community rebuilding
